So I thought my bike was a K but does this mean it is an F?
« on: August 18, 2016, 04:33:06 PM »
Was reading a post earlier and found a thread that made me think my 1978 CB750 may be an F model. Not a K like I had thought. But as Im sure you can guess I am not the first owner so who knows what is original and what has been swapped. Is there any way to tell from other parts or the VIN number? Or rather how can I tell from the VIN or engine numbers.

Engine and VIN number will usually work plus pictures help.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Could be both. People combine parts from different bikes all the time. Doea your frame have the ID tag on the neck?

Yes it might have a K frame but like mine it might have a F2 or k7 motor in it.
Engine number should shed SOME light on it. However still not sure what mine is CB750E 2613894. I have seen F2's with lower engine numbers.

Rain ; As long as nothing (numbers wise) has been altered (illegally modified/changed), this should answer your questions as to what you've got. http://www.hondachopper.com/engine/engine_timeline/timeline.html
This will show you what your numbers frame/motor mean. Hope this helps.   ...cougar...     P.S. This is for ID'ing the frame/motor, anything else can be modified , added , deleted , you get the idea.
