CB750 Front End Swap
« on: August 31, 2016, 09:34:37 PM »
I picked up a front end from a 1977 GL1000 from a wrecker with the plan of a converting my '77 CB750.  On disassembly, I found the lower end of the fork tubes to be worn badly and will require replacement.  There may be some NOS tubes floating around out there but I noticed Paolo & Franco Tarozzi advertising aftermarket replacements on ebay at a resonable price.  However, on their website they quote the tube dimensions as 37mm diameter x 692 mm long.  The tubes that I got from the wrecker are 602 mm long which leads me to my question.

Does anyone know the fork tube length for a 1977 GL1000 - maybe the forks that I got from the wrecker are not from a 1977 GL1000 or the website for the aftermarket tubes is incorrect.  I'd hate to order parts out of Italy only to find a dimensional problem.

Another option, maybe someone on the forum has a source for some NOS tubes for a 77 GL1000.

While 3.6 inches is a big difference, I wonder if 692 is a typo? (9 being next to 0 and all)

Maybe send an email asking them?
