550 Breather tube to Air Box connection
« on: August 21, 2016, 05:33:39 PM »
I had a connecting joint piece rupture that usually connects the breather tube back into the air box on my '74 cb550 and I can't find a replacement part. I've been told that the part is discontinued (17358-374-000) and that eBay is probably my best bet, yet none are out there. Has anyone delt with this and found a solution? Maybe just attaching a longer breather tube directly to the airbox?

The rupture happened on a road trip and I built a makeshift part out of hoses and electrical tape to get me out of the desert, but the parts won't withstand the gasoline and are causing idle/compression issues anyways i think.

The part looked like this before rupture:

I did just what you suggested.
Brought the old hose to auto parts store and matched the diameter
