Lol w.e calj  :P

But I like how gene swoops in with the 80s save nice one man. Haha but yes the 90s had some terrible tunes like how the disco revamp scene hung around. No disco you can't beat the pop funk.

Gene mentioned 1890, not 1980. He's an old fart! Must be a huge fan of Victorian parlors  :o ???

One of the bands I play does tunes from 1890's - 1930's.  The fact that I was alive back then only helps my chops ;D.

Not the slightest bit worried man ^^. Glad you guys are enjoying yourselves.

Huuurrrr this case though... Am I missing something or and I just not getting this tiny screw driver between the cases enough or not taping into it enough. She does not want to separate.

If I remember correctly, the Clymer manual (not sure which one you have) doesn't actually mention all the bolts needed to split the cases. I believe their count is short by 1. You got the one under the oil pan?

Could always post a picture of the top and bottom cases.

What's up guys! Ok so I've been fighting with the case separation for two days now. I was able to get the cases separated but it seems to be binding on the left side where the alt rotor is. I could have sworn I saw a post on here where a guy had his motor separated but the alt rotor was still attached. What gives?

The rotor doesn't need to be removed to split the cases. Maybe stuck on the locator dowel pins.

Have wooden or plastic wedges you can tap in there?

You'll still want to remove the rotor if you plan on replacing the seal.

+1 fine tapered wedges

Right so I used these little wood things from my gfs crafting bucket of blocks and wood strips and stuff. They worked brilliantly, I worked back and forth across the front of the motor lifting ever so gingerly with a hand held angled pry bar and rag, and adding one little strip to each side until the cases were split. The seal over there on the left was causing the problem. The one behind the alt rotor. I think..... Thanks for the idea Dave. +10.

Also bomb I agree, those are needed so bad for this issue.

Yeah bomb! On the outside its covered but the inside looks pretty dang clean. I suppose I'll find out when I measure the wear.  :D

Once you start cleaning you'll realize those parts and the inside of the cases are not actually Black :o

Nice, glad it worked out. Now it WOULD have been better to remove the rotor while the motor was still in the frame, but that's ok. I put my crank in a vice (soft pine and cardboard between the crank and metal jaws) and got it out that way.

Not sure if you've been following AlekStooge's build of his 550 but he's into the cases too right now. Might want to pop over there and have a look-see. I thought he compiled a list of part numbers for all the oil seals needed for the rebuild. I don't like aftermarket seal kits.

I lold. Black motors matter.

But Dave, is it really necessary at this point to remove the rotor? Oh wait I'd have to remove it to replace the seal yeah? But no I havnt been following his thread at all. Umma scoot over there and check it.
