part identification

I have an unidentified part out of a cb500 engine. The cases were split for transmission work by another mechanic and I can't figure out what it is.

Can you look on the valve cover or top of the head? There should be two alignment dowels. They're about this size, I think. Not sure if the valve cover was removed, but that's my initial thought.

Well, there are 2 10x 16 knock pins between the case halves...

Ah, thought those were a lot smaller than 10x16. That's why I mentioned the valve cover. I'm usually wrong, haha.
