What an experience. Good and the bad that can go with these old bikes. Hang in there bro. At least it's not the cold yurt  ;) Don't forget to double check all of them while you are waiting on Lloyd.

After talking helmet with you I now have a silver one. Had to go XL as my usual L size was too snug. Only down side, I was hoping the phone would ring LOL. I did 300 miles on it yesterday to work and back.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

The new Daiichi condenser crapped out on Matt, and he replaced it with the dented one.

I told him I couldn't vouch for it! But it was new and I had it.

No worries Gene! It provided a valuable lesson and I was back on the road pretty quick.
So much to do, so little time.

Good to hear. We got back in yesterday evening. Gonna be a long time before I opt to see the desert again.

Well, I called Lloyd and while we were talking I noticed this and this: a chewed up inside of the adjuster cover and a visibly bent adjuster. So without a replacement adjuster I am stuck.

Lloyd is being a superhero here. He is going to drive 2 hours to bring me a replacement plus one for the exhaust side too as when I pulled that adjuster to swap to rthe intake side to check if my valve is bent I noticed substantial pitting to the adjuster face.

It doesn't appear the valve is damaged, so hopefully replacement adjusters will get me back on the road in a few hours.
Better check the rest Danny to make sure they are all tight. Luckily the nut did not fall off into the engine. Not a rare occurrence to have those back off and start hitting the inspection caps on 750's if they don't get cinched down tight. Here's to hoping the rest of your voyage is smooth sailing.
Kudos to Llyod also for watching your back, sure others are willing also on your return.

I would think the cover would break before it bent. I guess he could not screw it down.
Would not hurt to pack a few spares plus nuts, May help someone else.

Just got into Grand Coulee WA, done for the day.. saw some long lonrly backroads the last few hours.
#21 from Lind WA to Wilbur, then west to Grand Coulee. Nice weather.

Just got back home safe after some grueling SF Bay Area eclipse traffic in the dark with an oddly pointed and not so bright headlighr. Bike worked great the rest of the way after sorting out my plethora of electrical issues. 2,568.7 miles total round trip. Thanks for all the good times, advice, hospitality, spare parts, moonshine,  etc., everybody.
So much to do, so little time.

Glad everyone whom has made it home safely has done so.

Frank are you staying in WA to see if you can see the eclipse there?  Not with naked eye but use a sheet of paper with a pin hole to project the sun/moon eclipse on a sheet of paper, posterboard.

Danny, that is rotten luck, but you are fortunate to have someone like Lloyd come to your aid.  He knows the 550 extremely well and it is great to have him back on the list again between his moving trips from CA to AZ.  I hope you guys were able to get it sorted out.  Scott is in the Prescott area... there are some members in Phoenix and my best friend lives there now.  Of course there is Nils and Haris2luv, etc. in Tucson.

Danny was fine tune packing his bike for a rainstorm when we parted at the rest area near Winona (Meteor Crater Rest Area).

I got a note from him later that he was in Springerville for the night, and bike was still running well.

Hopefully, his bike has learned that resistance is futile.

Stopped last night a bit sooner than I intended, but it was like Monday night outside Denver, overcast and pitch black, unlit mile after mile where all you can see is the road in front of you.  Plus at my last fuel stop a local told me to watch out for Elk! After 30 more nrlerve wracking minutes of riding I called it a night and stopped at a really cool old school Southwest Motel called Reed's. Today I ride the Coronado Trail Scenic Parkway (Hwy 191). Apparently in the 50's it was opened as Hwy 666 and so locals call it The Devil's Higgway.

Elk are a serious threat in N AZ.  Apparently in Elk/Moose Sweden too as Volvo designed their cars to prevent elk/moose intrusion into the passenger compartment through the windshield.

The aero designs with sloping windshields tend to have wider openings and with both being tall when hit by a car they are on to the hood and into the windshield on cars.

Ride safe everyone.

Looks like a nice place to wake up Frank, maybe a bit damp...

Just got home. Bike never gave me a problem. Still burbles at low speed but always started and always ran well.
Great Rendezvous. I hope we have another.
Joe - thanks for going to the trouble of putting together a dinner that first night. It was great.
Frank - was going to invite you over but you're already north and way east of us. Glad the bike's running well. Be safe the rest of the way home.
Mooshie - I'm amazed you travelling so far on a 42 year old bike .....alone. This is America you know....guns, perverts etc. Be safe.
