Last picture before I am home in a couple hours. This is a must stop for me whenever I pass by. I stopped here dozens of time as a kid going to visit grandma.

Technically about 1.5 miles from home, but close enough. Time for a beer and burger. 4,728 miles. Not bad.

Get with it people, before the weather turns nasty! (Actually, around here our Fall riding season hasn't started yet.) You don't have to go on a marathon bike ride, you just have to show up and meet some SOHC folks. ;D I know I had a great time, and I think everyone else did, as there were always smiles on everyone's faces. It was a huge success, IMHO. 8)

Danny, congrats on the trip and getting home safe.  Did you wish Emma a Happy Birthday?  Or, had her party came and gone, or was the marquee related to owner's or staff's children?

It is best to visit the desert in winter, not summer...or drive across it then...far more pleasant.  San Diego is a great place in the winter...lots to do.

Georgia in the East is nice in winter unless a front is moving through.  Where is the member density in the East and NE, lake states, midwest, south...

Imagine StevO might be evacuating as Austin area is forecasted to see 25-26 inches.  There are other Texans whom might be leaving out of the path of the hurricane.  Dealing with flooding and water damage is no fun and you grow so sick of dealing with everything being wet and trying to save things.  Austin area tends to have a lot of rain anyway if I recall correctly.  So all the streams and rivers will be so out of their banks. It will be like they probably never have seen before.

Mooshie, a paper towel will saturate and then start blowing...would a thin maxi stuffed in the fins absorb more as well as being better at not having the oil collect on the surface and blow around?  You could tie a cotton string around the pad to assist removing it if the pad were doubled over with the string in the fold/around that fold line...

Will you be riding the BRP south or Galax north on BRP and then to other points beyond?  Are you going to be riding another couple weeks?  Could you share either privately or publically your plans...

I have  mess with the PO on my CX having silicone sealed the tach feed closed.  I have to pull the fan before I can access the camshaft end and tach cable housing to determine what nightmare lies in wait there.  Changing the mechanical cooling fan with an electric fan out of a Ducati.  Mechanical fans can grenade taking out a hard to find and expensive radiator on the CX & GL500s.  The CX650 and GL650 used an electric fan design.

I'm one of those Texans who didn't leave.  I'm due south of Houston, right outside the city limits.  For us it's not too bad.  I've experienced much worse.  Our power went out this morning.  I didn't expect that.  It got windy about 5am.  We're on a weak grid.  It doesn't take much to knock it out.  Supposed to be back up tonight.

We're supposed to see more rain for the next few days though.  I hope Harvey keeps moving.  We're pretty much water logged at the moment.  Much more and things will start to flood quickly.  We should be ok, either way.

Austin doesn't see a lot of rain, but when it rains it's usually pretty bad.  Feast or famine.  I canceled three bike trips to the Hill Country last year because of torrential rain.  I've got plans to meet up with Stev-o and others in October for the Harvest Classic in Lukenbach.  Cool little bike rally.  Been twice.  This will be my first year on a vintage Honda.

Danny, I don't know what you're planning for your float fix but here's the one I came up with. It's pretty easy to do and when you get new dimples you can just unsolder the old piece and put on a new one.

Thanks Terry. I've got 2 extra sets of carbs, so I'm going to take floats from those. I do need to track down 4 new Honda float needle assemblies though. Best to just put in new and not worry about it.

Hey Terry, tell your wife the clock is now located at the intersection of Clark Ave and Bradley Rd, about 4 blocks from the house I grew up in. ;D

Bud,  I hope and pray things are well there and no flooding affectiny your friends and family...unlikely to be the case in Houston.  I hope everyone you know has flood insurance.  If you do will they cover it?  It is from rain but from a hurricane and thus the weasels (insurance) want to avoid claims.  So much for insurance rates across the country..they can't let their profits drop...they make huge profits despite payout in huge dollars every year.  For them to break even one year they think criminal.  Yeah, not a fan of insurance companies.

Did the math today on my total trip cost: including all the money I spent on the bike and gear I spent close to $4k. My actual on the road cost wasn't too bad, ~$1700 for 4700 miles and 9 nights in a hotel, but I spent way more than I thought on parts and other misc  things like a (used) camera and (used) GoPro. That may blow any non-work travel plans for the next 18 months

I spent 500 over 10 days and 3000 miles.
I did not count the cabin price , but motel one night, and hotel another night.
Big fun per dollar I think..

The GoPro wasn't a huge cost, about $170 with a bunch of accessories. There were a lengthy list of small expenses that really added up.
