Kentucky in October would work well for me too since that is only a 1 or 2 day ride from Chicago.

I think we need a 2018nthread with a poll.
Are you interested in trying to go to a meet..
 A. West of the Mississipi.
 B   East of the Mississipi.
 C  Other area.
All of the above. ;) There can be reunions anywhere people want to have one.  ;D

I'd love to go- too bad I missed the gathering this year which happened to be here!

As for me this year, I'm 90% likely to attend if it's within 6 hours of me (Four Corners area).

I'm originally from Bloomington, Indiana and would love to visit this Fall, but realistically, I'm unlikely to attend a gathering back east.

I'd be interested in a Colorado/NM/Utah members gathering just about anytime later this year!

OK then, I like Mooshie's plan of KY.  ;) Land Between the Lakes in western Ky in October. Fall ride. That month is open for me and it's my old stomping ground. Should be a good time to ride there. In the vicinity of I-24 and I-69 aka WKY Pkwy and ~25 miles south of Paducah and ~ 100 miles northish of Nashville.

You mentioned questionable stories in your youth about Cairo  ;D  Not sure we should bring you back!

Us Paducahans liked to trek to Cairo and Metropolis in search of alcohol and chase the girls  ;D The real thrill was trying to stay outta jail. Worked some times but not others  ;)

I may bring more moonshine if you're nice  ;D

Oh, if anyone wants to do this then don't forget to bring some fishing gear if you can pack it. Kentucky Lake on one side and Barkley Lake on the other.

SOHCtoberFest. Good one Frank.

Paying homage to last year...rose and I had an impromptu motorcycle trip to Denver to see an uncle recovering from a lung transplant....currently at Dolores Campground and then heading back west.

Sorry Jerry....this trip and our route/stopovers were so erratic and on some family schedules we couldn’t stop by  Colorado Springs

Wish we could have organized better to meet up with folks on the way but we were so sketchy on planning.

Wish timing we as better for us to also come to bonneville but need to get back home.

Be safe guys.

Joe, I'm going to Bonneville but won't be going to KY in October as originally thought. I'll be in St Thomas, VI Oct and Nov instead. Tough decision  ;) but I bought a condo there. I'm working on being a professional beach bum and rum drinker  ;D

We thought about going north to Sturgis but we couldn’t stay away from southern Colorado.

Looking forward to the ride through Taos, NM and then ??  I think we are going to try and see the Salt Planes in Oklahoma in the way back.  Gonna wing it

That brings back such good memories!
I didn't get my act together quickly enough to plan a Kentucky/Blue Ridge parkway ride for October 2018.  Also Dash is down for the count.  Guess 7,500+ miles after our reunion was a little more than he wanted to do  :-\  So planning on my BRP ride for 2019 100% in.  Maybe we could get something going?  I see the 2018 thread and I posted there.

Did you end up sending the engine to Mike?

I understand.  I missed my 550 as soon as it was loaded on the buyer's truck.

Maybe more reason to have a pair of 550s... If one is down for mtce the other might be ready to ride...
These modern dependable bikes just do not have the soul. I managed to score a 77-78 valve cover for a 550...so maybe mine can be restored rather than back burner. Given its roughly 30k on the clock I will probably need new timing chain and tensioners while it is getting attention. Would be nice to pop a new can and cover on and be good but I do not have that kind of luck.

I have almost enough parts to build 2 more, including a complete, not stuck, '77 engine, so it is just a matter of time before I have another one.
