Checked into Dolores riverside campground this afternoon at 2pm for 2 days. I was thinking everyone would be staying for the night of the 17th. Nearly burst into tears when the lady at the office told me all the Honda guys checked out this morning. What a DUNDERHEAD am I. Was so looking forward to meeting you blokes.
Guess things could be worse. It is a nice place to be, especially after the Yellowstone National Parking Lot which was a bitter dissappointment.
Anyway might just get plastered. Hope the reunion was a hoot.
That is so damned sad. Sorry we missed you.

Jerry and Frank obviously...Scott won't stand by and let them have all the fun...
Jerry intended for Frank to give him a hand early on...

Yeah, you get it David. :D This was about spending time with friends, some old, and some new, most of whom I met for the first time face-to-face. Helping friends with their bikes was a bonus. 8) 8) 8)

Jeez sorry moetoe. What a bummer. It really was a good meetup...pretty much everybody talking at once. There was a lot of whisky put away for 2 nights.

Rode to Vernal and danged if we didn't run into Greg and Steve in the same gas station in Grand Junction. They of course left us in the dust after that.

The morning over the mountains around Telluride was colder than Karen's black heart and then things toasted up to Death Valley levels after Grand Junction. M had a white knuckle time going over Douglas Pass. Lots of 15mph hairpins on pretty steep roads. But she made it. Never dropped the bike once.

The pic is of some of the road over the pass.

Looks like a lot of people wish they'd come. Maybe next time eh?

Thanks to Danny for setting the whole thing up. I know what a chore it is to do stuff like that. It really was a great success. Nobody I met for the first time was like I imagined them. It really was a hoot.

Sorry we missed you Moe. You'll like the campground.

Made it to 4 Corners then the campground outside Monument Valley. Continued to have intermittent carb issues,  so once the tent was up did this.

The #1 is I think the problem, so I left the others alone. The carb is constantly overflowing and I will sometimes lose a cylinder. Kind of scary in the middle of the desert. The float moves ok, but the pin was a little rough, so I cleaned it up a bit with some 320 I had in my bag. I also pulled all 4 plugs. They seem to be showing a bit lean, leftovers from the mountains maybe. They all had some tan scale on them. I cleaned them as best I could with some rougher paper I had (where's that wire brush when you need it). It's all back together and seems to be running fine, but the problem was always intermittent. A couple hours cruising through the desert tomorrow will tell the tale.

Danny, does the carb only overflow when the motor isn't running and you leave the petcock turned on? If the #1 plug isn't sooty after high speed running, the problem may be a float needle that doesn't seal perfectly, but when the motor is running and drawing fuel, the demand is greater than the leak. The solution would be to turn the petcock off immediately when the motor is turned off.

No, it will overflow running at a stop light and it will overflow when the engine is off and the tap is also off. It's bugging the deal out of me. Sometimes it's like it is being starved, other times the fuel smell is strong.

All four plugs look the same? Which bowl did you lose the screw from? Refresh my memory about how the screw was lost. Did the issue of pissing gas start then?

Yes, all the same. It was #4, but I replaced the screw Monday before I got to Dolores.

The bike is running OK, the only problem is leaking gas, correct?

And we were successful too ;D  Many thanks to the Weber expertise of Scott and Frank. There's a start video floating around somewhere. Gotta get a fuel line rigged up and whatever fine tuning may be necessary. The 1000 Hot Rod lives with Webers!

I have a  question......................................................why are there so many bottles of alcohol on the picnic table? ::)   Wish I were there....Larry

Larry, THAT was nothing!! Just a minor sampling. Every time I turned around my moonshine had disappeared. Mooshie was the usual culprit.

Just a little info. It's cold at night BUT this morning I was advised the office has small heaters!! Sure would have been nice in the yurt!!

I'd happily split one with you if they charge for it. Oh well, info to file away for future reference.

Made it to Taos, NM. Route 64 was absolutely stunning for most of the route.  Also had a nice ride through Mesa Verde National Park on our way out of town.

Now I just need to figure out how to get us to Paducah, KY by Sunday morning.

That's probably why she was later than panned to depart in the morning :)

Thanks again for the suggestion.  Could have spent days there, but even just riding up and back was worth it.

I left via TELLURIDE, but did not go into town..have touristtrap allergy.
Got the brilliant idea to camp at Bend in the Road at Bonneville,  Got in after midnite, went over 500 miles.
I think the bike has 1940 miles since Sunday morning. Slept atvtge dirt hotel. Warm at least.

I'm in Kansas now on my way to Missouri. And yes I probably did drink more than my fair share of that Georgia moonshine!  Not the butterscotch one though. Lol
Here is a pic of Dash.  Half way done with my trip well more like 1/4. He is still spitting out some oil. Fun jimmy thinks it's the puck so nothing I can do but make certain the oil is filled.
Was so glad meeting everyone. Looking forward to the next one !

Very cool pic Mooshie.
Here's Bow grabbing shade wherever he can find it. Zuni, some other town, and tonight's destination Mesa AZ. I'll say the AZ 87 is a beautiful site. But damn. The wind and the heat.
