FatMatt it would be my pleasure to pick up all the missing bike parts from your newest creation!
I am going to be putting together a list of everyone coming and hope to get where they are coming from (the State) so that if others want to pick up riders along the way if an be done somewhat easily

Was just planning routes from Indy to Dolores last night.  It's funny...I was thinking about how I absolutely HATE driving through Kansas, but then realized that I've pretty much never seen anything but I-70.   We don't ride the interstates unless by absolute necessity when travelling, so I realized I'm going to see completely new parts of Missouri and Kansas than before.  Hopefully more entertaining that I-70 :)

Hey Mooshie,
You are welcome to a stay over at our house in Nashville ( Ray and Karin ) if you decide on passing thru' here on your way East. Not sure of your planned route, but your welcome and we would love to hear about the Reunion and trip !
Here's my K1 750 at Barber in 2010....

Hi Spanner:
What a nice offer.  thank you so much.  Let me look at my itinerary (I did not have Nashville on there)--but with such a kind offer I may have to adjust.  I will PM you.

I've been on the US routes north and south of I-70. Southern routes are all good and continous through the state. Nice roads. US24 north of I-70 cuts to I-70 in western KS. ANY of them are more fun than I-70. Just depends on whether you wish to make better time and be absolutely bored or not.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Mooshie plans to continue her trek East on US50E after leaving the Reunion.  So, she will see parts I have not seen.  I have driven I70, I40, and I20 routes.  Interstates are no fun.

There is a Motorcycling best rides web-site that is a good resource to check if it could get you through a state in a great ride or if there is one you could take a break on to enjoy for a little sidetrack.  I will have to post the site's URL later.

I'm coming from Houston, TX.  I'm heading out with my wife and son on the 12th, about 4am and hope to arrive in Durango about 9pm, CO time.  We're driving my truck with the CB750 in tow.  This a family vacation for me.  I'm only going to be able to break away and make it to Dolores on the 16th.  I'll be staying at my sister's place in Durango.  Looking forward to meeting everyone.  I hope some folks will be going on a group ride that day.

Lisa, from Riverside you can go all the way to Flagstaff without going near I-40 if you want to. ;) Riverside>Palm Springs>Joshua Tree/29 Palms>Parker AZ>Hope>Congress>Prescott>Jerome>Sedona>Flagstaff. The stretch from Prescott though Sedona up to Flag is a bit slow going, so I'll probably take 89 from Prescott to Ashfork, and then I-40 the fifty-odd miles to Flag, then 89 to 160 into CO.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

There is a guardrail from Sedona to Flagstaff going up from Sedona but, you are peering over the edge to a big drop off just beyond that guardrail.  It can be un-nerving if you do not like heights...or getting close to dropoffs like that.
But, it is beutiful and pictureseque
Sedona is quite toasty  like Phoenix, so take a break to hydrate and enjoy the scenery before the ride up to the plateau and mountains growing up to Flag...

Gene, Angeles Crest up out of LA is far more beautiful and fun ride than up the hill and down again from LA into Palmdale...but you are likely to be aware of that already.
There is a site where several of the old Star Trek shows were filmed not far from where the Angles Crest comes out into the desert E of Palmdale. It is a protected National Park site with a bowl like structure and lots of interesting rock formations.

It is beautiful - but we're taking off from far south of there - on the coast at the border of LA and Orange Counties.

I just came back thru SE Kansas, and it was beautiful! Winding road (US 166) between Joplin and Winfield, then went tollway up to Wichita and back up to I-70 home to CO. I've not seen that corner of Kansas since I was 5 years old, taking old Route 66 thru there enroute to CA from (then) MO. Western KS has its beauty, but it's mostly above the horizon, watching the clouds that are getting ready to soak you... ;)

Part of my return trip will be the Coronado Trail Scenic Byway in Arizona: https://www.arizonahighways.com/explore/scenic-drives/coronado-trail

My only concern is a peak elevation over 9,000 feet and just under 100 miles between gas stations.

Maybe not staying in those places exactly, but near enough.  That route you mentioned from Joplin fits the bill exactly!

There's a little 'stub' of old Route 66 left that has a [locally] famous bridge on it called Rainbow Bridge. Here's a link:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g38561-d8401163-Reviews-Rainbow_Bridge-Baxter_Springs_Kansas.html

If you drop by there, you'll probably encounter a few local Harley-ers who love tot ride there together, then go find a beer together. Every Harley rider I've met in that area knows the "Rainbow Bridge Ride".

Danny, that is a beautiful piece of road and fun as well.  Pack a couple empty quart bottles of gas, I think you would be fine with the distance between stations.  East of Phoenix coming down through Show Low & Snowflake and the PineTop area there is a popular route through the White Mountains.  Quite beautiful and curvy. Rt 60 goes into Globe and you can go to Tucson from there.

Do you plan to go down to Bisbee and Tombstone?  The later is very much a Tourist town but they have kept much of the original and replica of the old main street.  Bisbee was a mining town and has plenty of great places to eat and old places and the streets there can be quite a riot, very narrow.  Places cut into the mountain and lots of steps.  They have a very good microbrewery.
