Gene, we took 87 from Payson to Winslow on our way to 4-corners on the 2013 relay. Nice road if I recall correctly.

Nice to see everyone moving on from such a special and wonderful event. Me, well the elements have gotten to me enough that I need to truck the bike from here to the beach. I wanted to see if a total stocker could do it and was impressed with the bike. Not so much with the rider. Sad I have to give up the ride back this close to home but me skin just won't take it. Be safe, everyone, talk soon.

Absolutely stunning. Truth be told. Just rough on my bones today. ;D
P.s. we took 87 from Payson south to Mesa. Great ride, but harsh.

If it doesn't feel good, you're not doing it right. ;) You did well, Gene. You braved the scorching desert heat and the mountains and survived. No point in pushing things if it's not fun anymore. Take care.

Gene, take care. Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do. Common sense takes over. AND, we are not getting any younger.  ::)

Great to meet you two!

And a pleasure to meet you and a number of people from this forum. Seriously a significant event for me. Just really dug it. Oh #$%* . . . does that make me a hippie? The use of the word "dug"? Hope not.
In other news I met George Gruehl today. Warren Zevon's road manager. At a weird-ass little place in NM. Good day overall. I'm out for the day.

We just made our last gas stop.  150 miles to go and we'll be home.  That's about an 18 hour ride.  The trailer seems to make for a great display.  I think at just about every gas stop on the way back someone has asked me about the bike.

Maybe by the next reunion I'll have the chopper finished.  It'll make for a better road trip than the Tracer.  For what it's worth the Texas Hill Country has some great riding and all the amenities.

I'm in Kansas now on my way to Missouri. And yes I probably did drink more than my fair share of that Georgia moonshine!  Not the butterscotch one though. Lol
Here is a pic of Dash.  Half way done with my trip well more like 1/4. He is still spitting out some oil. Fun jimmy thinks it's the puck so nothing I can do but make certain the oil is filled.
Was so glad meeting everyone. Looking forward to the next one !

Just made it to Kansas ourselves....Harper, KS.  Did a 500 mile day from Taos, NM and we're beat!

Has been a shock going from mountains and curves to this

The whole trip out and back is 1900 miles give or take. So we're cutting 500, total of 1400. Plus "getting lost" miles. But those don't count. ;D

Mooshie drew the winning name.  I didn't get Terry the Englishman's SOHC4 user name, but he and I had a good conversation about building bikes, fixing bikes, wiring, relays, fabbing and the possibility of him doing a bottom end rebuild.

I don't think I got to meet the other Terry.

While we're on the subject of Terry the Englishman, it turns out his lovely wife was born in the same, then tiny, California town of Lompoc as I, before it became a space-race boom town. Small world. ;)

Gotcha.  For some reason I thought tlbranth was the other Terry.  Was there another Terry?

We made it home with the bike still upright on the trailer, so that's a good thing.

The "other" Terry is CB650; he was the dude with the blue bandana that towed Jerry's bike.

Cool. I was doing a beer run in Dolores and found a locally brewed beer called "Lawyers, Guns and Money".

Not his hometown, he played a lot in Colorado during the 90s in solo acts late in his career visiting his friend Hunter S Thompson.  Thompson and a few other writers helped write various pieces during that time.  - according to Wikipedia

Likely a fan of his music or some associated with him...
