Honda 550F parts question?
« on: August 26, 2016, 07:23:14 PM »
Hi all, lucky me I had a run in with a kangaroo a few weeks ago. Roo dead, me broken collar bone and wrist, plus ligament damage etc.
I have started the search for parts. Thing is not all part numbers match all years. I'm after the chrome base of the speedo. For a 1976 model 550F Super Sport, part number is 37236-323-700 , where the 77-78 model is part 372-36-000.
So I hope someone will know are these parts the same, if they are different, in which way?
The bike was untouched original except the pipes, so want to bring back to stock.
Thanks in advance.

I think the later one would not have the hole for the trip reset knob as it moved from the bottom on early models to the side of the speedo on later models. Other differences are minor - early ones had grommets where the wiring passed through and later ones a rolled edge hole with no grommet, the drain hole size varies...

Ok that makes some sense. I also read that the 76 750f has the same speedo. May have to buy a wrecked speedo as the trip meter adjuster is also broken. Looks like you can't buy them seperate it seems. Thanks
