Powder coating triple tree
« on: September 07, 2016, 01:14:50 pm »
I've resigned to just getting all black things powder coated, after initially only coating the frame and swingarm. As such, I'm taking the triple tree and a bunch of other things in to get coated tomorrow.

The big question is: Masking. My coater did a good job of masking everything on the frame, and I'm just wondering if there's anything specific I should mention. The bearing seats are obviously major points, but what about where the race butts against the lower triple tree? Should this be masked, and if so, how? It's kind of a small area to mask, but it is something of a mating surface...

There's space enough that it need not be masked. But the stem should be.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of it's victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis
