Were you able to give it a solid 4-point frame mounting? I had the same model/size of CCA rack that I installed on my CB350 and it carried 50lbs. no problem;they are strong.

They are strong to a point, but not beyond...
If you put too much weight on, it will bend just past the rear most mount.
I reinforced this one with a slightly smaller inner bar, and it still bent.
Not sure if it was the 24 packs or the camping gear, but this one used to be straight!

Oh,
I had my latest one bend also  :D The one I have now is a CCA rack that's 2) mount bars are mfg. in a type of 'S' bend.I got the rack real cheap at Barber's a few yrs. ago and it had been sitting outside a long time in the rain upright so the water sat inside it for yrs. and thinned the steel.I found out later while on a long trip when hitting lots of bumps w/ weight on it,that it was bending.I had a welder install a few gussets and that fixed it and now it's stronger to carry good weight.

Yes I can see how this could happen. I instructions say 30 #'s max and I can see why this is recommended. I gathered that as long as some sort of prejudice is used it should, and will, hold up just fine. :)
