I had a great great Uncle Henry who lived his whole life on the family farm and would visit him when I was a kid. All his dogs were named Booger and all the cats just Skeeter. At one time he had a big mean dog that would chew on peoples tires if they pulled in and he was out. Kept the strangers away or at least in their cars.

That's funny
I don't think this little pup could chew up a bicycle tire much less a farm truck!

Anyone have a favorite dog from a book/story?

Fluke - James Herbert.

Had a cat called that once, lasted 19 years. Lucky name :).

Yup, ain't no accident, she responded to August a half a dozen times today.

Now how to train her to find my 10mm wrench?

ok then, august is her name and she knew it already. now you know it too!

now show her that wrench then hide it. somewhere easy to find, to start with. then tell her: get the wrench!
once she finds it praise her and give her a small treat. then do it again. for not more than 10mins, 3 times a day. over several days. i'm sure she'll learn to find your wrench. just not sure she'll be able to tell the 10mm from 12mm yet ;)

My German Short Hair Pointer was named Hunter (Had to put him down this spring) but 9 times out of 10 I ended up calling him Buddy because he was. So Buddy always works.

Thanks, Bomber. "Shadow" is nice.

Here she is 3 weeks later, when we got her home.

Today, she´s 16 weeks and growing up very fast. Needs a lot of attention too.

Mine is house-trained since she was 14 weeks.

Last food at  6 pm, now water after 8pm, last going outside at 11 pm, night finished at 7 am = clean floor

Oh, and someone had to sleep on the coach in the living room with her until she was 12 weeks.

Doc, I love a motorcycle!

Anyone have a favorite dog from a book/story?

Kurt Vonnegut always called his characters dogs Kazak.

Kazak was eaten by a trio KokoBono children in the story Galopagos.

In another story, Kazak traveled an interdimensional portal with it's owner.

anyone know what bikers are using to carry their pooches on a ride?  once little shadow becomes a respectably sized shadow, I think it'd be fun to carry the pup out on adventures.
