CB400F fuel tank decals + rear turn signal stays needed
« on: August 20, 2016, 06:10:13 AM »
I had a disaster in the garage which resulted in my pristine '76 CB400F being the middle of three motorcycles playing dominos.

Now, the fuel tank, that has (had) nice original paint has a large scrape an several dents on the side that have creases, and are not paintless repair candidates.

So, I'm going to get it repainted (original Light Ruby Red of course).

So, I'm looking for recommendations for where to get quality decals for it.    I think I'll even put the silly "reminder" decal on it if I can find one, as this an is all-original,low miles bike.

The left rear turn signal stay was bent as well.    I may be able to straighten, but, haven't tried yet.  The other side might be bent as well (pre-existing that I never noticed before?).     If anyone here has straight pair of them that they're willing to part with, please PM me with your price.

Thanks,
Jay

4into1 sells those, I've used them twice with great results.

Very sorry about your bike, good luck getting it back to pristine.

P.S. You can beat those turnsignals brackets into submission. Might be cathartic :-)

Sorry to hear about the damage. You need to be careful buying these particular tank decals, many do not have the correct blue shade, are much too dark. The correct shade is more of an electric blue, as per photo below. Best ask the seller to confirm the shade before buying.

These ones appear to be brighter blue than many, but I haven't bought any from this seller yet

It is quite hard to tell if there is a clear coat. I just had a look, an early type red tank doesn't seem to have one, if there is it's pretty thin, but a late F2 yellow tank does seem to have one.

Not sure whether they're the same brackets as the 750f but if they are I've got a rear turn bracket I could send your way if you cover the shipping plus $5 (for a new spark plug boot)

halllzy@gmail if you're interested, I'll snap a pic of the bracket when I pull them out of the box tomorrow.

Cheers!

Mike

From what I can determine, this part unique to the CB400F.
