71 CB750K Turn Signal Problem - Maybe Flasher Unit??
« on: May 31, 2005, 02:56:32 PM »
Finally got my 1971 CB750K running good so I took for a spin.  Hit the left turn signal and blew the main fuse.  It worked great a few days ago.  Refused & checked the right blinker....worked great.  Hit the left blinker & she blew again.  Will a flasher unit work on one side and not the other??? Or do you think I just have a direct wiring short somewhere??

Are these flasher units still available??  Thanks for any advise you can give me on troubleshooting this electrical problem...

yep you can still get the flasher units ,but a lot of folks get the car ones because they are cheaper ,and yes a flasher unit can work great on one side and not the other? check your wiring make sure there is nothing amiss ,get another flasher unit and try again  :-\  mick.

sounds like a short on the left side.  Bet its in the rear.

I just fixed mine a couple of months ago. they weren't popping fuses but they wouldn't blink till I revved up so I took all signal lenses off, cleaned all sockets, replaced flasher with $2 unit from parts house. All works good now.It is possible to have a short in flasher but check wiring as other poster suggested.Lift seat and check wiring to rear sigs. It should'nt be anything expensive to fix.
