Hi all! First post. I have been riding and working on motorcycles and bicycles from the age of about 8. I have posted a few pics of my 1973 CB 350F project.
Bought it for $250 helmet included in 1990 with about 11,000 miles, all stock and in pretty good condition except for a bit of rust in the tank. After creaming the tank I rode it occasionally over the next 10 years or so about 3500 miles. Bought a 1990 Concours in about 2002 and started on the transformation of the CB 350F. I gave it to my son for his 14th birthday so it was his bike/my project. I ended up putting a tank, seat, and side covers from a early 80's CB 400T because of the super condition inside the tank. Had to cut off the seat hinges and I think one of the helmet holders also had to lower the coil packs to clear the tank, reposition the ignition switch, and fabricate a bracket for the rear turn signals and also the seat. That was it.
He rode it for a few years and moved and left the bike. I asked if he still wanted it a couple of years later and he said if I could get a setup of bags like the Concours so it would be practical transportation he could use in Manhattan, KS. Got parts pieces for that on eBay and went together very easily. Rode it up to him and he may have put about 1,000 miles over the next 3 years. Then he moved to Florida and the 350 came back to me in the spring of 2015.
I always wanted to put a stock looking fairing on it so set about looking for one on eBay and finally scored one cheap and in decent shape for $100! It's off of a 1984 Sabre. Took me about a month to figure that out properly. While adapting the fairing I found the crack in the upper triple tree and replaced that with a billet aluminum one and managed to adapt it well and actually the inch or two that it raised the handlebars was needed to fit perfectly with the fairing.
It is a blast to ride except when there is more than 20 MPH winds.
