Carb Sync Tool - 5 MM or 6 MM Brass Tubes??
« on: September 09, 2016, 04:24:38 AM »
Hello,

I have not done a carb sync on my 72 CB500 bike and I'm finally getting around to buying the sync tool.  But do my carbs need the 5 millimeter brass tubes or the 6 millimeter type to connect the synchronizers?

The search function does not work here and the Carb FAQ makes no mention either way.  And the downloadable shop manual doesn't even have a section within the carb area about synchronization. So rather than guess and possibly waste a few bucks plus the time, somebody around here will know the answer.

Many thanks,

Rick

Take out the screw and measure it.  750 has M5 tubes, yours probably too.

I'm an idiot.  I have one of those nut / bolt thread size and pitch things in my garage for metric and English nuts and bolts.  I will use it to answer this question and thank you for reminding me . . .

And a drum roll please, maestro . . . as you predicted . . . it's M5 x .8.  Thank you very much and I can now order the correct tubes.  Now if I only had a brain . . . . ????

I wish I was 30.   I'm as old as my tongue and a little older than my teeth . . . . 57.

Well then, in deference to your age, see if this helps?
