Removing and installing Tank Badges
« on: September 07, 2016, 07:46:02 AM »
I want to remove the plastic tank badges off a 1973 CB750 last tank.  What is the best way for their removal and replacement?

'Thanks' in advance!

Are we talking the gas tank ?  If stock they are made of metal and can carefully be pried out. The pins of the emblem are held on by some little metal keepers that fit in the holes on the mount strap on the gas tank, don't lose them their like 5 bucks a piece  ;)

And be sure you "evenly" pry it off so you don't break the tabs on the back of the badge. If you are not painting the tank you will want to put some heavy tape over the pry area so you don't mark it up.

Exactly what I wanted to know too! My 650 ones are held on with small screws and there are none to be found on the 750 tank.  :)

I used a packing strap like they use to hold a cardboard box closed to slide behind it and use it to pull them off. Prying didnt seem like a good idea.
