Today I was finally able to install my recently cleaned carbs for my Sabre. Took a long long time to do - mostly due to some work conflicts, but also those carburators are really complicated.
Put the tank on - hit the starter, fuel is flowing, bike coughs. Have to recharge my starter while I let the gas seep into the bowls. Go back out - "cough" "cough cough" "rumble cough" "rumble rumble ROAR!" Success! Except "Hmm, is that condensation dripping down there..."
Nope - my fuel inlet tee at the #1 and 2 carburators is leaking like a sieve. Gasket failed of course.
Now I have to take the carbs off, break the bank down again, just to replace the inlet tee gaskets. "Ahhhhhgggggg!"
Fine - I'll blow off some steam, take the Nighthawk out for a spin.
Starts up, purrs like a kitten, not a cold blooded bike so it sputters until it warms up, pull out into traffic, pull the clutch, shift... shift??? <click> <click> <click>.... pull off side of road. Limp it home.
My clutch is definitely engaging - it will idle with the bike in gear but maybe not enough, it's hydraulic so it might need to be bled. Maybe the shifter forks bent, although I find that unlikely. The shift pedal link is very position sensitive - so that might need to be adjusted. EIther way I have to let the bike cool down so that I can fiddle with it.
I ain't blowing off that steam - in fact I'm starting to build up some more.
