Value of These Side Covers and Tank
« on: August 24, 2016, 07:05:12 PM »
Thoughts on value? All original, no cracks in the side covers, a bit of surface rust in the tank.

Sorry 754, I should have been clearer... I'm thinking of buying these but was wondering about their value. Thoughts?

It's no wrinkle tank, awesome set for a runner assuming the tank is solid. Is there a petcock? I'd set my max bid at about $300 if it was an eBay auction, shipping would need to be considered to though. :) Rick.

Thanks. I was thinking in that dollar range too. And it comes with the petcock.

I've bought aftermarket emblems recently... they aren't cheap and these are original. Interesting to see the black at the bottom of the left  side cover... I guess it originally came that way.

Is there a way to repair that spidering in the paint, or am I stuck with it 'till the next respray, (which may never happen).

Maybe a little patina ain't so bad...

You'll be very lucky to get that body set for 300 $ imho. Consider cost of parts before paint, preparation, paint (labor and materials) and you are way higher. That set is beautiful and original which will add a lot of value to any  correct bike.

This is all true and I fully agree, there is a set like this listed on eBay with a fresh paint job in Sunrise Flake Orange without the badges for $550 currently and time to go, plus $50 shipping. Not sure if it has the petcock. BUT, I did say $300 is about what I would set my max at because that's where I'd be comfortable starting an eBay bidding and I know it would be a steal at that price. Besides, who yells out top dollar right out the gate? Also, patina is great!  :) Rick.

If you could get that set for $300.00 consider yourself very lucky. Easy to look at E-bay completed auctions. That set would probably easily top $600.00 + plus in that venue. There are some hungry people looking for those. Tanks, sidecovers, pipes, fenders and seats are the yummy good stuff.

I agree that'd be a steal hard enough finding a tank alone for that price

Keep it as is for the patina! They are only original once. That is a nice looking set. There was a lot of fading on the top of those colors back then, however, this set looks pretty nice. As long as there are no pin holes. That would be a bummer.

Well, I'm bummed today... my seller bailed on me after we had made the deal for $400.00 including mailing to me in Canada.

He's in Hebron, IN. I hope someone here got them.

I think he was likely offered more...

Likely someone offered more than his $400 and to him a deal was not a deal. That is sad...
