AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio
« on: July 05, 2017, 11:06:54 AM »
3-day event this weekend. Large swapmeet. Anybody going?
Being only 1 hour away, I will be riding there every day with a friend of mine visiting from Florida.
I remember in 2009 we - the CBX Owners - shared a large tent in the infield with the CB750 SOHC club. Our 30- and their 40-year anniversary. The ICOA always reserves the "Honda Pavilion" - on the outside of turn 13 (The Carousel) - as a base camp. Shelter from the rain and nice place for a rest, have lunch and a drink (byo!!)
1973 CB350F -sold
1974 CB350F -218 orig miles, sold
1976 CB750K - in restoration

Other Hondas:
3 x CBX
CB1100R
GB500
Plus Kawasakis, BMws & Ducatis

Was a nice enough event, although it lost a lot of its luster - and continues to do so. Some of us regulars (I have been going there since 1995 when it first was held at Mid-Ohio) were discussing the reasons and came up with quite a few:
-The internet takes away from the swap meet
-Vintage racing is a mere shadow of itself since AHRMA was kicked out
-The "Barber Festival" is a big alternative for those who cannot do both

A few impressions:

This year the ARHRMA event was not the same weekend.
Grids sound fairly good for NJMP this weekend.
