First of all what a remarkable collection of CBs.  Holy crap.  Having spent thousands and thousands of miles following or on top of the one I have pictured I am really happy to see so many enthusiasts.  I wish I had known the SOHC/4 existed before now.

Some house cleaning needs to be done at Dad's place and this old CB has become a topic of discussion.  This unit was a springboard for my dad, brothers and myself to a lifetime of two-wheeled enjoyment. It obviously would take a lot of time and money to restore.  It runs.  With some attention I have no doubts about the mechanical part.  I've seen it give the same mile after mile performance in 110 degree dry weather as mile after mile of 40 degree damp, rainy, snowy weather.  It means a lot to us but without the shop, time and "is it worth the money" to at least make it look good again we are deadlocked about a decision.  Any points from you guys out there would be appreciated.
It's hard to top the sound of an old 4-pipe CB750 going through the Eisenhower Tunnel.

Looks like early K0 frame with later motor (probably replaced at some time).  I will be interested in some parts if you decide to part this bike. Good material for restoration but you can have problems to find correct engine and like you said a lot of time and money. If it's worth it ?? I hope nobody on this forum will tell you it's not worth ( should be banned right away). We all dreaming to own '69 cb750. Good luck with any direction you decide to go except making cafe racer of it

You can not put a price on family memories and heirlooms. A return to stock without an obsessive "concours" level of restoration should be the objective. Refresh it, restore it, ride it! Just like it has been all its life.

Pipes look badly rusted unfortunately, as those would be very pricey to replace with exactly correct units. What's the mileage? Picture is a bit blurry for my old eyes  :-[

Restore it. Do it a little at a time to spread the costs out. You will be surprised at how little it will probably take to get it running again.

Agreed...if you sell it you will regret losing some of your families heritage. It is worth restoring. You don't need to go full bore and do chrome, etc. Just clean it up and do what you can. You do not have to get the 4-4 exhaust as that is costly upwards of $1,500 for a new set. Or find a used set for half that. But really worth it to get it running again. Remember you are talking to guys on the forum that can see through the dust and dirt...that is a fine bike!

Yes. I believe it is. Restore it as best as your finances allow (skills are all here and will be shared with you) and ultimately pass it on in time to your kids.

I agree with what all the other members have already said here Bones. Would like to see more pics though please. Good luck with this family project. No rules here about how long you should spend on a project bike. It's not a race. Go at your own pace and as money will allow and enjoy getting this bike standing tall again. You don't have to do a full frame up restore unless that's what you want to do. Fix what's needs to be fixed to make it safe and reliable for the road and leave it at that and ride and enjoy it.

Looks like 63K miles, Cal.

+1...clean and polish, get it running in honor of your Dad.

And take the wonky fairing off, that was not stock and the bike will look so much better.
