Just picked up a '78 CB750 K .. Pics inside
« on: December 03, 2006, 12:03:57 PM »
hello all ..

just picked up this beauty yesterday ... '78 CB750K ..18K miles ..  i  was shocked at the awesome shape it was in .. it came with carbs and air box out of the bike and the front brake was frozen .. tires are shot and mufflers need attention ..

i removed a carb bowl and looked good inside so i decided to install the carbs and check if it wold fire .. took a few cranks but it fired right up and timing seemed to be spot on .. sounded different becasue i didnt install the air box and there are small holes in 2 of the mufflers ..

all in all ..great find and am very excited .. its great to have a forum like this to back up the ownership .. check out the pics ..

Those of us not blessed with having a 78, will never understand. ;D Bike looks very good. You can get those holes welded. Also I use some Silicone Paste on the side cover tabs which helps me remove them without cracking. Best of luck with it and welcome!

i was well aware that i had to be careful with the side covers .. but since i just got the beast home i wanted to open it up and work on it immediately .. silly me ..

i usually put a dab of motor oil on the rubber grommets so they slide out easily next time ..  already super glued the broklen tab and need to strengthen it with fiber glass ( on the abck side)  ..

the black beauty now looks like a basket case within a day of owning it .. but i confirmed that it fired up right away and is idling great even without the airbox ..

need to find them damn carb kits for the K8  ..  the jets are good so it seems to me like i could use the bowl gasket and O-rings for the bowl drain screw and the air/fuel screw from a K7 too ..
