Fork Brace Compatibility
« on: August 18, 2016, 11:33:25 PM »
Hello everyone, here again with another question. I really want a Tarozzi Fork Brace for my 1975 CB750 K5. I've notice there is no Tarozzi fork brace listed anywhere for a k5, however, Dime City Cycles has one listed for a 1975 cb750F. Question is, is there a difference between the 1975 CB750 F and K forks? And if so does anyone know if any of the Tarozzi fork braces listed for other models might work for the K5 forks? Thanks again in advance to anyone that may be able to provide me with any help.

Fast From The Past has the only chart that made sense. Great prices also.

75 still had short lowers I believe.

The only one that works for that is Tkat Fork brace.

Incorrect.  I have a Tarozzi on my K3.  The challenge comes when a fender is wanted. Mine is a racer so has no fender.

Try Spec ll also.  I got a Telefix fork brace for my '77 550K which fits perfectly..and also goes nicely over the fender: http://www.spec2.com/clips.html#apps

Hello everyone, sorry for the late response. Had a weekend Bachelor party in southern CA, and now I'm in Jury duty.

I've seen the Tkat brace but am not a fan of its esthetics. It looks like it will preform great and is as strong as an ox but does not fit the style of my bike.

I'm pretty set on the look of the Tarozzi as I believe it will actually compliment the look of my bike. And I am planning on running it with No fender. I took some measurements of my forks and found them to be 35mm tubes, 58mm lower tubes (at the gator connection point), and 182mm from center to center. The Fast from the Past webpage says the following models should fit my bike per the measurements,

22-0014  - HONDA CB500K Four... 1978-1979
22-0037  - HONDA CB750F1... SUPER SPORT 1976

Anyone try either of these models on a CB750 K5 with no fender being ran? I might just have to purchase the 22-0037 to find out. If all else fails I'll just make a tube fork brace myself.

Check my build thread for pics of the Tarozzi on my K3.

I think it looks great, I do not like the Tkat brace either.

i was in the same dilemma you were when trying to figure out which one to order. My instincts told me to get the  22-0037  - HONDA CB750F1 for my k6 and it fit my forks fine.

Nice build Stev-O!

I'm about 7 months into my build and still have no idea what I'm doing. I took the engine 100% apart, cleaned, measured, replaced, painted, and reassembled. Now I'm focusing on the frame, wheels, forks, seat, etc. I'm doing a cafe racer build with the rear hoop, so with some hesitation I chopped the rear of the frame off. I was ready to weld on the hoop for a 24" seat but after some Mock up decided I preferred a 20" seat better. So more money, cutting, and welding that needs to be done.

I'll eventually write up a long builders post when I'm done. I don't do well under pressure and figured it be easier to go at my own pace if I post nothing now.

The Tarozzi brace looks great on your bike!! Exactly what I'm looking for, for my 750.

Also, what is your take on the frame mod you have? Worth it? Not worth it? I've been debating adding the mod to my bike but can't seam to make up my mind. But I need to make a decision soon as once it's powder coated it's done!

Ha, exactly where I'm at now. My gut is telling me the 22-0037 will fit just fine but I'm a bit apprehensive since I can't find anyone who's tried it on a k5 themselves. Only one way to find out now. So hopefully I'll be getting my hands on one soon to give it a shot.

Ichi

Hey Ichi, thanks for the info. The telefix would be a good alternative to the Tarozzi. Both have a very similar look. I also just found the "super brace" which looks amazing. As beautiful as it is functional. I wonder if one of those might fit a 750 as well.

not sure what is incorrect....there is no fork brace that I know of that fits the short lower legs of the early bikes properly but Tkat....you can omit the fender as you say, but then again, you can also run a GSXR front end and not need the fork brace.... different things

Thanks!   It's been fun, however I'm antsy to finish it and my bodywork is in "paint jail"!

The frame kit is made by forum member 754 [Frank], it is a quality kit.  I had no choice as the frame was cut by a previous owner at some point.

I'm on the fence about cutting an unmolested frame, but sure makes it easier to do a top end or change a gasket [pulling motor not required].

Good luck with that decision!

The longer fork LEGS came on the 77/78 K Automatics , and maybe the 75/76 750F model.
All the longer lower leg models that I can recall have the nicer fork tubes...hardchromed all the way to the top.
Leg assemblies are often for sale quite reasonable, to put in your triple trees..avoids tank clearance issues..
I think the frame kit is a good worthwhile thing to do, but I may be a wee bit biased..

I have a 76K and it has the longer legs that are chromed all the way up. I know the bike is stock. I think 75 was the last year for the shorts, but I never had one.

I am biased towards a GL1000 front end if buying new forks is involved :)

So, I picked up a Tarozzi 22-0037 fork brace for my CB750 K5 with no front fender. Here is the result....

There's about 1/2" clearance between the brace and tire. I'm guessing this will be fine, but let me know if you feel this will be a problem. I'm new to the motorcycle world and am really very clueless about these details. Thanks.

The stock one of my modern Triumph is the same distance. It will never hit because they move in tandem.

I am assuming that the type and size of the tire might have an impact on being able to use the Tarozzi 22-0037 fork brace.  What size (aspect ration) tire do you have?

The front tire is a Dunlop D404f 100/90-19 tire
