Honda CB750K4 leak from Oil Pressure Sensor Tube
« on: September 13, 2016, 07:17:33 PM »
Hi,

I'm new to the Forum, but I am stuck as to how to fix this problem. When I start my 74 CB750 and ride about a mile, oil starts to leak out from the tube covering the Oil Pressure Sensor. I have checked the oil levels, and checked whether there is a smell of gas in the oil tank, for which there is not. Any ideas what may be causing this leakage? I have attached a photo which can hopefully help.

Thanks,
Simon

Not sure of your terminology so a picture WOULD have helped. I don't see an attachment??

Your oil pressure sensor is probably leaking. The cheapest replacement would be to find a civic around the vintage of your ride and buy it from your local auto parts store. I don't see a pic either.

Welcome.
Pull off the boot. and disconnect the sensor wire.  Remove the sensor and clean its threads.  I mean, if the light is working, why pitch it?  :-\
Nothing wrong with a little teflon tape around the mid-threads here.
Dont overtighten it, you'll blow out the area of the case surrounding it.

If it continues to leak cheap replacements can be had.  Just be aware of the thread pitch and size.
