Topic: Help with evaluating bike

Wanted to know if it was priced right.

The frame plate says 11/1969. It was titled in 1970 (yes, title comes with bike)

It has a wrinkle tank on it. I know its missing a lot to make it an original bike.

The asking price is $3,500

What do you guys think?

Waaayyyy overpriced. Have you heard it run? For an incomplete non runner I would not pay more than $800, preferably no more than $500. I could not garner any interest in a complete, running, almost completely stock, well tuned CB750 with new tires/tubes/brakes/battery/chain/sprockets/tune up/seat upholstery/seals/gaskets/clutch/etc. for $3200...

Yeah that's just a ridiculous price. 

Not only are many pieces missing, but many have been replaced with non K0 parts.  I.E. carbs, airbox, maybe front fender.  Engine fins are damaged.  Might not even be a K0 engine, nevermind the sandcast thing.

Haris, any luck with the CB550 seats? Ill take a basic seat at this point. Just trying to get this project rolling before the winter weather hits.

I'm with the rest on this, I paid $400 for my K0. But yeah man you know that thing is broken.

I wouldn't pay any more than $300 for that.

But c'mon guys, it'll almost triple in value if you put a $250 brat seat and $30 clubmans on it!  Then you can flip it for 9 grand!  Or trade it for a gsxr!  Think about it!

At that price you will go broke getting it right. You have a lot of expensive pieces missing.

I got a complete k6, wasn't running, didn't have original paint. But was the complete bike, for $700.00. It was in about as good of shape, cosmetic wise, as this bike.

Only worth that to someone who knows it and absolutely has to have it.

Right, but if you have a sandcast it's the correct tank, and they don't turn up for sale often.

I have not checked ebay lately but the price of run of the mill wrinkle tanks was lower than in the past due to the fact they are reproducing them now new. Nice original paint ones are probably holding up well in the market.

I just saw Don's post about his Yamiya wrinkle tank. I didn't know they were reproducing them. That obviously makes a big difference in value, especially for ones like the tank on this bike that doesn't have original paint.

Only worth that to someone who knows it and absolutely has to have it.

Perfect bike to cafe if you can get it for under a grand.   Make it your own.  Plan to sell the tank to those sandcast guys. 
Net cost for a titled bike $400-600.  Not bad in my book.

Wrinkle tanks usually only bring higher dollars if in stock paint, once the emblems are filled and tank repainted, hard to tell what you really have... Thus that is a higher risk and folks pay less anticipating extra bodywork and expense.

Post the serial number, can leave off last two..off the engine..
