# of links in a standard 550 chain
« on: September 14, 2016, 12:27:05 PM »
How many links on a standard CB550 (F if that matters) chain? The Honda dealer says 100 links but 130 is an option but is $10 more. I need to order today before end of business to make sure I get it in time to install before Sunday's Ride for Autism so I don't have time to count the chain on the bike

You need a 100 links, assuming you've got the stock sprockets.
The dealer should have a big catalog to look that up, not sure why they wouldn't know?
I know because I'm about to order one myself :)

They indicated that the parts fische showed 100. But I like to confirm these things. As far as I know my gearing is stock.

Right. The dealer I visited earlier today didn't use the parts diagram, he looked it up in a big aftermarket catalog like Parts Unlimited or something. There's an application chart in there, which is where he got the 100 number.
The Honda parts diagrams says 100L in the description for the chain part number 40530-341-305.

But yes, it should be 100 links.

+1 100 fits perfect.

I trimmed down a 120 chain (the price was too good to pass up). Now I've got twenty spare links.

Trying to think of something crafty to do with em
