The Dyna III was an earlier version than the Dyna S pictured. The Dyna III had a remote mounted box, like the Gerex, and had a good reputation for reliability. I believe that it still used the stock advance mechanism, like the Dyna S. I believe only the Dyna 2000 used electronic advance?
As far as drag racing, since the stock advance is all-in at about 2500 RPM, I don't see how locking the advance would help.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

Does it look like a III.. How many versions exist?
I think I have the box for this, have to look.

Do I want to switch ? Not really just had a discussion with a guy that thinks ekectronic ignitions have to have an advance, and i said I dont think they do anymore..

Have not found a good enough reason to switch yet.

That's a Dyna S, Frank. ;) I've got one for a 350/400 sitting in the box at the shop. They were meant to use the stock centrifugal advance.
