Couldn't agree with you more. Instread of professionals helping our poor waywards, separated from their crimes and victims in high priced institutions and with our tax money, a more direct confrontation with the victims immediately after the event might be more helpful. A public humiliation and shunning would help those who know they are doing wrong but choose to ignore it.   Hey, thats my first redneck rant :)

Sorry about your loss.  Speaking of ways to keep your bike safe, my uncle had a great one.  He left his Harley out in the open under a tarp.  No thief was getting it.  Reason why?  The massive lock run through one of the holes drilled in his brake rotor, only noticable after you tried to move it 3 feet.  There was no room to get bolt cutters in there, either.  Somethin cheap yet effective.

Great state Georgia great city Atlanta.  I live in Buckhead I'll keep a look out too.  Keep your bike behind a fence and get a decent sized dog.  I live a block off of Peachtree and have a detached open garage.  My old Boxer does a great job of watching out for my stuff.  I spoil him terribly because of it.

I know what you mean - sorry no Mercedes or BMW.  I walk to work so believe it or not my main car is a little powder blue '63 Sunbeam Alpine.  The Boxer keeps an eye on my "Old Girl" too.  My wife has a Passat.  However my little brother down the street does have a gorgeous Z8 which he is selling to buy a new Porsche.  Too bad I really liked that car and Porsche's are everywhere around here like pickups in Dacula.

alpine? I learned to drive in a 66 alpine. nice car, modeled after the thunderbird in some respects. not hijacking the thread though,

I have thought about installing a master cutoff under the seat or in some otherwise inaccesible spot to try to lessen the ability of a drive off.
