Topic: Where does this go?

The switches were kind of trashy on the insides I decided to clean them up. This little metal cup fell out and I'm not really sure from where.  I found a nice post on the forum with pic's of the insides of them but there's no picture of it. And I don't see where it goes or serves a purpose. Have never posted pic's, might not get it done on my first attempt. Anybody have any ideas where this goes?  TIA!

What year and model of bike and do you know which control either left or right. I wonder if a spring went under that cap--Hmm

It's a K1 750, original switches.

Is there a dab of solder inside the cup?

Possibly.  The outside is smooth and there is a slight indentation in the center but there's no real sign of wear like something caused it. The inside is relatively smooth but rougher than the outside with a couple of places that could be excess solder. It's possible the whole thing is solder.

Is there a loose wire in there somewhere?
Have you checked the switches with an ohmmeter?

To do that I need to figure out which switch positions or pressed button allow which wire combo's to pass current?

Yes, and you will need to read and understand a wiring diagram too. Lucky for you, the Oldman Honda page has a nice wiring diagram for CB750k1 that you can simplify to see only what you are after.

All that said, I don't know what the thing is. It looks like a button  contact, maybe a wire was soldered to the back.
Left or right side switch?

A picture of the bike and switches might also be helpful.
