Well, The CBX Has Gone To Another Owner
« on: October 05, 2016, 04:27:16 PM »

Several reasons for me to part with the CBX. Didn't really want to, but could stand some extra money, to deal with "Septic System" Issues And it had gotten to where I wasn't quite as comfortable riding it. That thing IS pretty hefty and even though the previous owner (a Close Friend) had lowered it about 2", when he went through it, I was barely able to sit on it and touch the ground (I am 5' 8" tall) Barely flat footed. I still have the others, with the biggest being the '83 (Sorry Folks, Not A Honda) Kawasaki GPZ1100 and It will possibly be next. It is actually a little lower and I am more comfortable on it. Didn't think I'd Ever sell that CBX, as I was so impressed by it. But, sometimes you just have to face reality, grit your teeth and do it.

As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Guess I was slipping really bad, to not offer it to "Family" first. Hope I can be forgiven?

I know, but, had had some other issues that also required that nasty old money and had about "Begged, Borrowed & Have Stolen what I could. Had some serious issues (Septic System, A/C & Expense & Efforts to get my Stepson here, from 5 states away. Put a Serious dent in our finances. Doing better, but still recooperating from that.

My feeling Exactly, Larry. I was amazed, when the CBX first came out, hated seeing the '81 & '82 models get loaded down, but not My decision. I liked everything about the '80, except for the restriction on the speedometer and tach. I had thoughts of trying to get a good set of '79 model gauges, for riding and keeping the stock gauges for Shows or at least to make it more original. At least I have my 6 yrs of experiences with it and plenty of photos. Still have nagging thoughts of possibly going another route. But, what is done, is done. Not the same, but I still have my '83 Kawasaki GPZ1100, to get thrills on. And, matter of fact, I offered Both of them up for sale and the CBX got the attention, while the GPZ never got even a nod.

Hey Bill. Sorry you had to let the X'er go :( Here is strange story. Those CBX's have always fascinated me, you know the 6 cyl. and 6 carbs etc. A while back I was just looking over the forum here and just pulling up different members that had not been active here in a while and you were one of them. I noticed you still had your CBX as you avatar pic. The first thing that popped into my brain and my gut feeling was to check in with you about that bike and ask you if you would ever consider letting it go and selling it. But my second though was  no way, Bill will never, ever sell that bike and he would probably take it as a insult even asking him so I dismissed the thought. Dang I guess I should of went with my gut feeling ;D

Yeah, I hear that. I figured I'd have that one, til my dying day too. Just goes to show you. And, listen buddy, I would never be insulted about one of you guys asking me if I would consider selling something. I have had a ton of inquiries, over time, about my '69 Plymouth GTX and I felt the same about it, as the CBX, only more so. I would have been honored to have "The Marcia Fan" being the owner of my CBX, if I hadn't of already sold it. Our hind sight is quite often, better that our foresight. You know? Sorry you aren't the keeper of the CBX too. I liked it because of the reasons you mentioned and The Look, The Ride, The Sound, etc.

Um, No Thank You, I can Still reach Those pedals. LOL! Thanks for asking though. Had several offers to take it off my hands, but as long as I can manage to drive it and afford to keep it, gotta go with it.
Kinda had thoughts about Power Steering though, but I am still manging to get it around.
