Flat throttle at mid throttle, not RPM
« on: September 22, 2016, 06:32:45 PM »
CB750 K1 with pods and 4 into 1.  Runs like a top up to about mid throttle then falls flat. Picks right back up from about 3/4 throttle through WOT.
Can't remember jet size, but i upsized and moved the main clip according to research on this forum.  My question is this: is my flat spot more likely to be jet size or needle location? (Not looking for pod vs airbox discussion)

If you truly are at mid throttle (because you marked your control and grip beforehand  ;) ), and you go by those jetting overlap charts... you have the pilot jets though-put maxed out, are in the meat of the needle jet, and the main jet is just starting to kick in.  This area is all needle clip range.
IIWM, and I knew my pilot jetting was spot on, perfect plug color, I would move on to doing 1/2 throttle plug chop, and do it as accurately and as long as I could.
New plugs into a hot engine, and ride right in that 1/2 throttle position where the bike chugs.  Your plug color will show you what to do.
Post a pic of your results.

Yep, it was the needle. I moved it one clip notch back to the stock position and now it runs like a top!
