If you truly are at mid throttle (because you marked your control and grip beforehand

), and you go by those jetting overlap charts... you have the pilot jets though-put maxed out, are in the meat of the needle jet, and the main jet is just starting to kick in. This area is all needle clip range.
IIWM, and I knew my pilot jetting was spot on, perfect plug color, I would move on to doing 1/2 throttle plug chop, and do it as accurately and as long as I could.
New plugs into a hot engine, and ride right in that 1/2 throttle position where the bike chugs. Your plug color will show you what to do.
