It looks really good.  That's the same paint scheme that I am using on my engine!

So the bike has made its virgin debut on the roads... and it pulls like a freight train! i had an ear to ear grin for days! Now that i've had time to settle down i was hoping i could quiz the gurus on here for some tune up questions;

The bike has been bored out to 836cc with wiseco pistons and cycle X enlarged cast iron sleeves. Likewise i am also running the 4-1 cycle x exhaust, and K&N pod filters.

The carbs i have set at.  130 mains , 40 idles, clip 4th from top (based on a members suggestion on this sight who rides a similar setup at a similar elevation). there are new carb boots, and each received a rebuild ensuring all passages were clear with fresh o-rings.

After a bench adjustment of the carbs and setting the idles at 1 full turn out as per the manual i did a carb synch.

The synch went well, all 4 are pulling within 1/2 cm of one another.

My issue at the moment is that cylinders 1&2 are running excessively rich, where as 3&4 are a perfect tawny colour on the plugs. I've tried leaning out 1 and 2 doing 1/16th turn increments. I ended up leaving them at approximately 1 1/4 turns out on 3 and 4 and 2 full turns out on 1&2. with no noticeable improvement in plug chops.

My temporary riding permit is up for the season and the weather is not conducive to doing anymore road riding this season. Whats the consensus from the seasoned vets here? Where have i goofed up? Do i keep trying to lean out 1&2 or do look for a vacuum leak?

Thanks

Well done, Gizmo.  What did you decide on for a seat?

I don't have a photo of it with the seat on at the moment. To access my electronics i built a a seat pan that hinges away from the frame. I dropped my bike off at a local upholstery shop and let him have at er. My initial reaction was that the seat was thicker than i had envisioned. But after having a few rides on it, i think the comfort more than compensates for it.

Are those black oxide bolts used for grounding? If they're painted, I'd suggest making sure the ring terminals hit bare steel for the best ground.

Curious why you chose to use only white wire instead of colors to help identify them later within the loom?

They have been cleaned, underneath each ring terminal.

I didn't like the quality of wires that were available at most auto body shops in town. I work as a helicopter mechanic and have available to me aircraft quality wiring so i used that and used the ink stamping tool at work to identify each wire.
