here is my rant on feedback. Seller is giving feedback on your response to the purchase and most importantly your speedy payment. In my mind seller should leave your feedback after the item is paid for. Buyer should then leave feedback when item is recieved and in condition described. Sellers have begun to hold feedback over the sellers head. If the seller does not leave me feedback, I dont leave them one. Simple as that, and as buyer I never leave it first.

That's exactly the way it went for me for most of the time. Now and again, I run across a seller that is a little sluggish about posting feedback for me. I do know one thing, IF i ever need to buy from a this seller again, I'm not leaving feedback until he does. I was previously informed that leaving feedback is optional, for a seller. Okay, if that's the case then. leaving feedback for the buyer must be optional also. To me, it's a courtesy thing. I've never left negative feedback or anywhere near that. I always try to consider the time of year or that the seller just might be tied up for a bit. I very nicely remind the seller about the events of the buy, that I've left his positive feedback and I'd appreciate it if he'd do the same and they do just that (there have only been 3 or 4), except for this one. Now, I have had some sellers that have gone way above and beyond and then there were two sellers who really bent over backwards to help me.

dg- dont want to hijack this thread,  and I understand what you are saying. I have dealt with a few morons on ebay, but if buyer and seller both follow that rationale, then feedback is never left.

DHL is just freaking incompetent though

They delivered an expensive electronic device that was suppossed to be signed for (said so on the box)  and they just dropped it at the front door, no ringing of the bell knocking or anything, just went out the door and tripped over it

Nothing gained, nothing lost.

I stopped giving feedback first on Ebay because of the morons who then feel that they have the upper hand and can bully a person into whatever by using the threat of negative feedback (ie-this was actually worth $10 less than I bid on it, etc)

Daniel, I understand what you're saying and I cansee where some sellers might behave the way the do, because of some bull that some buyers have tried to pull on them. Some of THOSE kind of buyers sure make the rest of us look bad. To show what kind of person I try to be, I bought a set of gauges a while back, that were supposed to be for a 74' Honda CL450K6 and they weren't. I notified the seller because I wanted him to know, in case he had some other parts that were supposed to be for the same bike. He might want to check out the rest, to be sure that he was aware of it. He offered to take the gauges back but, I told him  that I had several different Hondas and I was sure that I could take care of it. I mean, it just happened. Either someone gave him the wrong info or the parts got mixed up, I don't know. The thing is, He tried to make it right. I'll always try to give the seller an even
break.

custom fees is something related with taxes and government, not delivery companies. They just collect the taxes for the government.

Raul, like Mike is saying, what UPS (in particular, but the other carriers as well) do, is take my parcel and "walk it thru" Aussie customs, so that they can then charge me extra for that service.

So not only do I get hit up for the government charges (import duty, sales tax etc) but I have to pay UPS and co an additional sum for the privelige of getting shafted. It also can add up to a week on top of the normal delivery schedule as the carrier has to wait until MY parcel has cleared customs in Sydney, then call me in Melbourne to tell me I now owe them an extra brazillion dollars that I hadn't budgeted for, and won't release MY parcel until I give them my credit card number! (are ya getting the message yet mate?)

If my parts are sent via USPS, Britain's "Royal Mail" etc, I rarely have to pay anything extra. Long live the public mail system! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I know what you mean Terry. When my first grandchild was on the way, I had my Mum air freight from New Zealand the bassinet (crib) that my Dad had built for my babies. Air freight cost around $115. When it arrived, I spent half a day driving up and down the freeway from the freight office (pay money, get paperwork) to customs at the airport (pay more money, get paperwork stamped) back to the freight office (pick up package) back to the airport (more money, quarantine inspection) - total cost was $220 over and above the freight cost and they didn't actually charge me any import taxes!!!!

On the other hand, my latest parcel from DSS (sent by Royal Mail), I was charged 8 pounds (around $20) for postage, it was on my doorstep in a week with 16 pounds worth of postage coupons on it. The parts were around half the price my local Honda dealer charges, they are tax free and they are here quicker without even having to fight the traffic across town.

That's it Jane, I wanted a new "Flip Front" helmet, so I did the right thing and checked with my local bike shops, and couldn't get anything for much under $500.00 AUD (about $400.00 US) so I ordered one from a seller in the US, and had it in 6 days, for half the money.

Now of course, the shipping was via USPS, had it been UPS and those other Pirates, it could well have cost me more than buying locally. Cheers, Terry. ;D

"Not only that, but don't you find it strange that UPS and FedEx and DHL never have these kind of screw-ups?"

Sorry, but that's naive, at best.  First, those others are a huge rip-off. Second, they can cause MAJOR damage.  Fed-Ex- read the fine print very closely. You'll pay for insurance when sometimes they won't actually insure something for over $100.  Unless it MUST be there over night, we ship USPS.
