Whoops! Was looking at the wrong ad.

That's a decent price for the white bike, (which is an 81 and not an 80) but it needs at least a grand of work before it turns a wheel in anger, likely more.

TT talk to FunJimmy, his 998 needs a new belt and your Duc experience might be valuable for helping him decide if he wants to tackle it...think he is farming it out this winter. Then again we all have limited time and when you have the ability to pay and don't wish to delve into it, then you are looking to use the most precious resourece wisely... time.

Checking & replacing CBX shims is not that difficult. Mike Nixon http://www.motorcycleproject.com/ prints a great guide. You can even find an Excel spreadsheet that will calculate the size of the replacement shims. I did learn two important things: (i) Three shims of the same "size" can all measure as different thicknesses (ii) You can buy shims in 1/2 sizes.

anyone have a old fuel tap for cbx..mine is broken in the plastic(handel) part..have drilled and tap the rivets holes..and mounted 3 mm schrevs in the housing
i have thekked my valvet klerange once in 3 years..and all in spec..so it holds good up..the engine is not so tricky as many like to make it..have put new rubber on the intakes and acc pump melbran..and kleaned all up..and new o rings in the fuel line link..(.a lot of them)
generator clutch need a machining to flat aut the surfases..and the generator got a turn too..so the brushes run on a spotless kontakt surfase

Oh Man, that Black CBX is making me miss mine even more. I loved the Look, The Sound and the way it Rode & Pulled. Still got Mine as my Avatar, but had to things to deal with and that meant parting with it, which I did, about a month and a half ago, sadly. Awesome motorcycles.
