Cam tensioner (Thank's FAQ section)
« on: May 31, 2005, 05:50:27 PM »
Hey All,
Gordon swung by this weekend and said my engine sounds a little rattly. I went to the FAQ and tightened up my cam chain tensioner. Thank's for the faq section. It is running quiet as can be. I didn't need to turn it that much, not even a quarter turn.

This is a great site.

Are you sure you didn't tighten the cam chain with the guy who came over to your house?

I see nothing in the FAQ that would lead me to try this repair.  Basically it says there is a bolt you have to tighten.  It is not referenced to the photo.  How do you get to the bolt?  Is the lock bolt shown on the diagram?

I need to do this repair and if the instructions are better in the manual, I will take pictures and provide instructions.

Dude, the manual IS already in the FAQ!

but i think the instructions on:

may be clearer than the manual. The bolt you are referring to is located on the back of the cylinder, above the starter cover and below the carbs, at least on the 500F.
