just a little update, i got the top end apart and the head off.  I am waiting to take the cylinder off.  Is there a trick to this??  it doesnt seem to want to come off very easily!  I am away from home on a business trip, so ill get back to it when I get home.

There are locating dowels between the head and cylinders to keep the head on straight. 
Heat, is your friend.  Plastic putty knives or hunks of wood wont mar the mating surfaces and can help pry.
Be careful to not pry against fins.  They will break.
