New member from Norway.
« on: October 07, 2016, 02:24:35 PM »
I have just got myself a new bike, had it for almost three weeks now. A lot of cleaning, polishing, and a lot of testing and adjusting of the way engine was running.

Will adjust and make the engine run as a kitten before i tear it apart during the winter.

It doesn´t handle very well, i would appreciate some advice to improve the handling, a lot of winding roads in Norway...:)

As it arrived, sunday 25.09.16

After some cleaning...

Welcome. That is a lovely looking machine. Handling problems usually entail front and rear suspension check and overhaul, swingarm bearing check/replacement, ditto headstock bearings and frame alignment.

Don't be too keen to 'tear it down'. If the engine runs sweet, an oil change and 3K tune-up should be all you need to do to it. The other issues can be tackled one-by-one.

Welcome!

For handling:

1. Check the swingarm play, replace bushings if there is any side to side.
2. Check the steering bearing, upgrade to tapered bearings is recommended.

If that does not help, time to check wheel bearings, shocks and so on.

Congrats, that cleaned up nice.   In addition to what the guys suggested above, be sure to check the date code on the tires.  If over 8 years old, replace.

+1 but do it regardless of excess movement. I went with bronze swingarm bushings. At the least snug up your steering head bearings. Check your wheel bearings also.
