That cbr500 looks like it means business crammed into that little 400 frame. Hope you have an appropriate length swing arm to keep the front end on the ground!
The funny part is the motor is almost the same specs and dimensions of the cb450 motor
. The story behind that thing is kinda funny. When I first built the 350f, the first machinist I went to screwed up the 1mm overbore with way too much clearance and had no useable bike at the beginning of riding season. Being pissed off and just wanting to be able to ride, I went to the honda dealer looking at a vfr800 he had left over for a steal of a deal. I almost picked it up, til I saw the price for full coverage on a new bike. Even more pissed off, I said to myself, I just want a new motor with the style I build in old bikes, and want the cheap classic insurance i'm used to, why is this so hard?!
While looking at a cx500 for a friend, I noticed a nice looking front end in the corner covered in dust. Minutes later, I picked up a 2007 suzuki sv1000 front end, with calipers and Woodcraft bars on it for $125. Right after that i said to myself well we put new engines in old cars all the time, why doesnt anyone do it in bikes? $100 on a 450 frame and $500 shipped for a cbr500r motor with 3k on the clock got me pointed in the right direction.
That bike will take a butt load more money to finish, but i'm very eager to get it done as well.
