76 CB750 Wont Idle
« on: October 10, 2016, 04:10:54 PM »
Bike starts and runs with both the choke on and off but wont idle.

With stay running with the throttle barely cracked open.

Bought the bike from a friend and the carbs were cleaned and bench synced before i bought it but were left without an air filter on them for the last few months. Also just added a 4-1 exhaust.

Guessing i should go up a pilot jet size?

Have you tried increasing the idle with the idle adjustment knob under the carb bank ?

Wow do i feel dumb, i jumped to the conclusions that the jetting wasn't correct/dirty carbs right away.

Increased the idle and it idles fine. It dies when i crack the throttle but is fine when i roll on the throttle.

Assuming this is a lean pilot circuit?

Did you get your air filter and air box back on it?
Its an important piece of the air/fuel equation.  :-\

Yes stock air box w/ new filter. The air box has had holes drilled into it by the PO.

4 into 1 exhaust with baffle.

Turn the idle set screw in to keep it from dying after you take the choke off.
