New bloke in New Zealand
« on: October 11, 2016, 01:22:56 PM »
Hi Honda guys,
I have been doing a top end refresh on a CB500Four K1 for a mate of mine, who brought it in from the US. I googled a few questions I had re cam timing and found this site.

The bike has only 13,000 miles on and has been dry shed stored, so is in pretty good condition, but all the top end gaskets were leaking, carbs were seized solid with some weird varnish stuff that seems to be left when that US gas evaporates, and the valve seals were shot.

Otherwise it's sweet, still has the hone marks in the bores.  Very clean inside.

Very nice little motor to work on I have to say.  Always been a Triumph/BSA/Norton guy, so these are a bit new to me, but very impressed with how easy they are to work on.

Got my eye on one now to buy for myself.

Cheers
Rick
