Honda CB750 K1 Intermittent Stalling When Selecting First Gear
« on: September 21, 2016, 07:45:48 AM »
Hi
Recently purchased my CB750 K1 which has been stood for a considerable time and have problem usually on start up from cold of the bike jumping forward or stalling. Also have trouble selecting Neutral when stood- usually have to use kill switch and rock back and forward then no problem selecting. Has anyone experienced any of these problems and any tips how to rectify.

 Sounds like a clutch issue.

Plates sticking.  Adjust your clutch.
Confirm you are using an oil rated for wet clutches.

You did not say how much you have driven it so far but may get better if adjusted correctly with more use if the bike has stood for a long period. Fresh proper oil if not done already would be a good thing. As far as the neutral issue others have that same problem also, your not alone. I snick mine into neutral when I want it while I am slowly coasting to a stop.

Oil with friction modifiers should make it slip not stick. Mine was clunking pretty bad when it was cold and had sat for a while. Om the last oil change I used a quart of Valvoline synthetic along with my usual oil.
I rode it hard and let the clutch slip a couple times, It got better, someone else recently reported success with,,, was it Bardahl? something like that.  An old school additive.  I bought whatever it was, I'll check the garage.

I had this problem with previous bikes. Solution was always take the clutch apart it clean it well with brake cleaner, reassemble, adjust.
