Drive Sprocket - how much movement?
« on: October 12, 2016, 08:05:43 PM »
I've installed a new 17T drive sprocket and facing plate on my cb400f. After installation, there is some side to side movement on the drive sprocket when I move it with my hand. Is this normal or should the driver sprocket have no movement? I would expect it to have no side to side movement. The shaft itself has no movement (except rotation of course) just the sprocket. Thanks in advance.

The sprocket normally has a fair amount of movement.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I actually had problems with sprocket held on tight.  The center bolt would be loose every time I checked.

I figured the sprocket movements on acceleration and deceleration (withing the splines play)  was loosening it up and after I added a washer that made the sprocket loose from side to side, the problem disappeared.
