Turbo Rebuild

Anyone rebuilt their own turbo?
Got a kit with a Rajay B25 turbo.
Figured it would be a good idea to rebuild the turbo.

Is this something that can be done at a home shop or something better of being sent out?

I rebuilt mine, its a Mitsubishi turbo tho. They say you can throw them out of balance if your not careful so mark the shaft and compressor wheel so the wheel is in the same position on the shaft when you reassemble it.

I rebuild my GT1752 with an ebay rebuild kit.

Pretty easy job.. you just need to take care to put the compressor wheel back on the same position as it came off, so be sure to mark this.

Re-balancing is not really necessary unless using new components. We are not making 200.000km with our turbo's anyways.

Will have to look around for a kit and rebuild this thing!

Kit came off a bike that sat for a while.  Spins, but needs a solid cleaning.

Chances are not high that I will actually run the unit, probably end up selling it.
But I always wanted to see how they worked.

It was up there for a bit.
Made a side deal on it for a "couldn't not buy it" price.
Worst case I mess around with it and get my money back.

So far the parts are in better shape then I expected by a bunch.
Should clean up well.
As far as I can tell nothing crazy is missing or beyond service.

I enjoy the tinkering with this type of stuff.

I sent mine to Terry Mr.Turbo and he even had some parts left over from the day
when it was ATP. He rebuilt the turbo, waste gate and set up the system with a 42mm flat slide.

At this point everything has been tinkered with.
Would hardly think a rebuilding of a unit, taking the time to track down the correct parts and learing how something functions could put off a buyer....
