CB750 K2 '72 Throttle linkage
« on: October 19, 2016, 06:29:10 PM »
I am working on a CB750 K2 and the carbs have me baffled. I haven't pulled them out yet. The most prominent problem is that at idle when I roll the throttle backward there is a spring loaded mechinism, fine. But when rolling backward the idle drops and the bike can die. I noticed that only the right 2 carbs ( #3 & #4) will change. Syncing has helped a little bit. The manual is no help on how the throttle linkage is assembled and how it works.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not really getting the question but maybe there is something broke on one side. Pulling the gas tank which is very easy should bring the carbs in full view while still mounted for a better inspection.

Check the spring - sounds like something is blocked or broken with that part of the mechanism. Maybe a "stop" is no longer in place for deceleration.

Getting ready to pull the carbs. It seems that the throttle shaft is moving in the bore. Do these have bushings for the shaft??

Best thing to do is look at a parts diagram. No bushings per say. These are the easiest carbs to work on, they are a real treat compared to some.

There is a pin or two driven in to the shaft, to prevent side movement.... Tricky to get out and hard to see..so occasionally someone trys to drive the shaft out and cracks the pivots on the plate the carbs bolt to. Be aware of that if trying to disassemble shaft.....or notice cracked pivot bosses.
