I'm not a big drag racing guy.....but correct me if i'm wrong...its not like road racing where you use the clutch every 5 secs slipping it.....drag racing you dump and go.....then speed shift.....righ?
You are correct sir !
Bottom like is that the V-Rod guy couldn't ride.
I have seen bone stock GSXR 600's keep up if not beat liter bikes (1000cc)..
All about the rider...
Hate to tell you this gents....
Drag racing slips calls for slipping the clutch like you own barnett and have not a care in the world what plates cost.
Heres what ya do ....Rev the bike to about 7000 rpm. Or somewhere slightly below peak torque RPM.(whatever it is for your bike)
When the tree hits your spot... Start feeding it clutch. If it lifts the tire or starts to spin....slip it a tad.
If it hooks up and launches feed it cluch til its fully engaged.
When you hit your rpm ....shift
and repeat as ness. to keep the wheel on or close to the ground and the back tire from spinning.
Trick is to keep it in the RPM range which will deliver the most power.
Launching off the line at 1200 RPM is kinda pointless. Were I drag racing my 72 K I'd launch at about 6000 rpm (which would wheelie me off the back if I did not limit the effects of dumping the clutch...slipping it instead)
