K1 CT70
« on: October 22, 2016, 06:40:17 AM »
I have been wanting to get a few smaller bore Hondas for some time.  Picked up a K1 CT90 and put a clone 140 engine in it and then found a K1 CT70.  Here is the CT70 the day I picked it up and a look at the fresh paint.  Plan was to clean up the bike and keep it as is but that changed quickly.  When cleaning it up noticed a significant oil leak from where the engine cases join.  Thats when I decided to do a complete restomod on the bike.

Rebuilt front suspension, new heavy duty rear shocks, tapered steering bearings and new wire harness.

Had Nils vapor blast the engine cases, turned out great.

Rebuilt the wheels and got it back to a roller.  Powdercoated hubs, polished brake carriers, sealed bearings, new seals and brakes.

Engine rebuild, 88cc with race head, race cam, high volume oil pump and HD clutch.

Engine back in the frame and oil cooler installed.

Wow! This must be the fanciest CT70 ever!
I've rebuilt a half-dozen of them (and enjoyed each one), but they didn't look like this baby!

Thanks gentlemen^^^  After building a few 750's I wanted to build a small bore Honda and always wanted a ct70 since riding them as a kid.  These little bikes are a blast to build and are significantly less expensive to do so.

Excellent. Very nice job. It was the small bikes that got me started in this crazy hobby.

Every time I am at my sister's house working on my bike my 11 year old nephew never fails to mention how much he REALLY wants a motorcycle. Every now and then I see one of these for sale and think I should pick one up.

Initially the plan was letting the girls ride it but as the project has progressed more than likely it will be a "dad" only bike, ha.

His dad had a souped up Harley when he and my sister got together a few years ago, but he sold it for the down payment on their house. I don't think he would have any issues, I'm not so sure about his ex-wife (technically this is my step-nephew). In the end I think they would be OK with a small bike like this.

Still some fine tuning and a few minor changes, but the K1 is done.  Next I really want to do a full restoration of an early H.

You could probably change this one over to an 'H' 4 spd. standard clutch and w/ the mods you do could probably get it running 65+  :)

This present K1 w/ it's auto-clutch would be perfect for taking the MC license road test. :D

What fuel tank and fuel valve do you have on it now ? Stock tank w/ remote fuel valve ?

Tige,  where did you pick up the head and cylinder kits?  DrATV or some of the many other places?  The S90 makes a very nice cafe bike and not a huge amount of work to make it look fabulous as its stock form is very nice to start.
A 140cc motor, new front forks or shocks and brakes to bring it down from speed.
The IRC NR53s are good tires as well.

All engine parts are trailbuddy, I usually purchase most CT parts from https://tboltusa.com/ or https://www.chpmotorsports.com/honda/years/
