I don't know about where you guys live, but every year someone at work is passing around a board to sell/auction off a gun, boat, cash, etc.
You know the ones: a grid and you buy a square or squares. Final score (or score at the end of the quarter for boards with multiple payouts) determines the winner. These range from $1, $5, all the way up to some $100/sq boards for the Super Bowl.
A dude at work is "selling" his Harley this way. At $100/sq, he's getting $10K for it. That makes me wonder if I could auction off one of my bikes and actually get much more than real market value for it.
Anyone ever done this? The trick would be finding 100 people to buy a square at $50 or $100 a pop.
I guess you could sell tickets and do a drawing, too.
Would you spend $100 for a chance at a ~$5,000 bike?
